Janet Kay Ferguson

Janet Ferguson, 68, of Houston, TX passed away at home on February 22, 2024.

Janet was born on December 17, 1955 to Roy and Mildred Schoeneman in Houston, TX. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. On September 23, 1972, she married the love of her life, James Calvin Ferguson Jr. They shared four children, Crystal, Tammy, Rachel and Michael.

Janet was a joy filled homemaker who could brighten a room or a neighborhood with her laughter. She loved animals and could easily be persuaded to buy or adopt any pet you wanted, even a flying squirrel.

In 2001, Janet began her journey as a foster parent. Together with her husband James, they fostered many babies in Groesbeck, TX. These were her proudest moments. In 2003, a baby boy came into their home that they couldn’t let go. Janet and James adopted Michael and began their new adventure as parents of their first boy.

Janet was predeceased by her parents Roy and Mildred Schoeneman, and her husband James Ferguson. She is survived by her brother, Vernon Schoeneman, her sister Kathryn Schoeneman, her stepdaughter Crystal Mielke, daughters Tammy Westergren and Rachel Kohutek, son Michael Ferguson, grandchildren Holly Morse, Jakob Mielke, Erik Mielke, Paigelynn Armand, Jack Guerrero, Keegan Armand and Ben Westergren, as well as, great-granddaughter Blake Rose Morse and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
