remember! Jane was one of a kind, and filled all the roles and more that could
ever be part of a woman's life - devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Also known as Ginny and GiGi, she
left us all too soon on the evening of November 14 after several days of gentle
hospice care. She was surrounded by "her girls" who helped make her transition
peaceful and comfortable. Her life-long faith in believing she would have a special
place for eternity, carried her away to those who were waiting for her.
Although Jane spent most of her young life in Houston, Sugar Land, Texas
became her home. She attended and graduated from Lamar high school where she
met the love of her life - William Alfred Streich Jr. Jane and Bill married after his
graduation from his beloved Texas A&M University. The Air Force then took
them to Idaho where they had their first child Beverly, followed by Susan
(husband Greg), Billy (partner Doug), and Steven. Houston was their first home
before settling permanently in Sugar Land.
As the family grew up on Alkire Lake, Jane began her many service projects for the
community. She served on the committee which formed the East Fort Bend
Human Needs Ministry. She was active in her church and sang in the choir. She
was a faithful attendee of Merry Ministries.
Along the way, she developed a love for tennis and played competively for many
years. Then travel came into their lives, and she also had time to return to one of
her interests – painting. Jane was an excellent and talented artist, as a walk
through her home would show.
But her lasting pride and interest rested in helping to raise her "babies" as she
called them. She leaves four granddaughters – Mandy (wife Kelsey), Lindsey, Katy,
and Megan (husband Shane), and one grandson Matthew (wife Briana): great
grandchildren are Ollie and Levi, Jett and Kamea, Kiyari, Camdyn and Caprice,
and another one on the way. Jane loved her children, her pets, her home, her
church, and her many friends. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. We thank
God for sharing Jane with us for 89 good years!
Love gifts in Jane's memory may be directed to Merry Ministries - c/o Sugar Land
Methodist Church.
