James “Scott” Zimmerman was born on November 7, 1956 in Riverton, Wyoming to William “Bill” Zimmerman and Kathryn “Nadine” Zimmerman.
As a child, Scott fell in love with the oil and gas business due to spending time with his dad at work in the Amoco oil and gas fields. Scott’s other passion was fishing, which he learned at his father’s side. He grew up spending family vacations fishing, primarily for trout. This led to a lifetime of loving to fish, but hating to eat it!
Scott graduated from Texas Tech University in 1979 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He went on to have a successful career in the oil and gas business starting with J.M Huber Corporation. He then went on to work at Evergreen Resources as a Petroleum Engineer and head of Operations, and subsequently was the President and CEO of Storm Cat Energy Corporation. Scott was a brilliant Petroleum Engineer with a great sense of humor.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife Barbara, of over 24 years; his son Michael, and his wife, Lauren, granddaughters Ella and Emma; stepson Sean Riggan and his wife Amy, special granddaughter, Alison Nelson and her husband Cameron; his wonderful mother, Nadine; brothers, John and David; niece and nephew Kate and Gary; brother-in-law, Dr. Fred Mayer and his wife Tracie; and numerous cousins.
Scott was preceded in death by his son, Eric and his father Bill. Scott was a wonderful husband and friend, father, grandfather, son and brother. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Rest in peace and go fishing with your dad and Eric in heaven!
