James Jhy-Yuan Tsao

James was married to the love of his life, Vicki Wei Tsao on October 5, 1958 who preceded him in death on September 29, 2021. They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary before her passing. He had dedicated his life to lovingly care for Vicki as she endured a long illness until the day she passed. After she left to be with God, we sensed a deep sadness in James and knew that he longed to be reunited with her. Our family is comforted knowing that he is with her now.

James was a loving husband, father and grandfather and after a successful career as Consul for the Republic of China (Taiwan), he transitioned into a distinguished career as a Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Houston Baptist University (now known as Houston Christian University) from 1968 to 1998. He was well respected and highly regarded by his peers and students and was honored with two Faculty Member of the year awards during his tenure there. Along with all of that, priority for his family and church community was an important part of his life. He also was a gifted author and has had several books published in Chinese. After he retired, his greatest joy was spending quality time with all of his grandchildren, who loved him dearly. James was deeply faithful and credits God for all of the good things and blessings in his long life.

He is survived by his son Allen and wife Debbra, son Alwin and wife Jenn, and daughter Debbie. And his grandchildren, Lauren, Michael, Nicole, Jimmy, Ashley and Austin Tsao.

A visitation for James will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 1 P.M., at Faith Fellowship Church of Fort Bend 2723 Kingsbrook Ln, Missouri City, TX 77459. A committal service will occur Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 3:30 P.M. at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
