James Earl Smith

A life long Christian, he attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University 1946-1950. Worked in churches with his Father-in-law, Rev. Martin M. McLamore; charter member of Calvary Church; held various positions in that church as well as Braeswood Assembly of God. Current member of Humble Assembly of God Church where he served with the Primetimer's on the A-Team. He loved the Men's Ministries and when all he was able to do was sit in his recliner and make phone calls reminding people of upcoming meetings, that's what he did. He loved being asked to lead a song or chorus. His career was in sales, mostly with American Greetings and Norcross Greeting Card Companies.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Laverne McLamore Smith. They had 3 children, James Robert (wife, Debra), Cathy Lynn (husband, Keith) and James Martin (wife, Sharon). James Martin "Jimmy" went to be with the Lord 1/13/15. Eight Grandchildren, James Lee, Jamie (husband, Josh), Joy, Melissa (husband, Bryan), Michelle, John (wife, Becky), Peri and Christopher. Four Great Grandsons, Maclaren, Schaeffer, Townsend and Chamberlain. Sister in law, Patsy McLamore DeBartolo (husband, Jack); two nieces, one nephew and numerous cousins.

His most earthly desire was that his children and grandchildren serve the Lord and make heaven their eternal home.
