He was married to his wife and childhood sweetheart of 65 years, Rose Hardy. Although James and Rose were individual’s they were one in their faith, marriage, and family. James was an incredible and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. James dedicated his entire life to hard work and family. He was born December 19, 1935 in Alto, Texas and at a young age moved to Houston. He currently resided in the South Belt area for the past 44 years. He was a faithful longtime member of the Catholic Community through Blessed Sacrament and St. Luke the Evangelist.
He had an unwavering work ethic, at times working three jobs to support his family until eventually co-owning his machine shop “Double H Machinery” with his brother William. Even during this time, he always put his family first making sure he was there for his children’s school functions and extracurricular activities. In later years James enjoyed watching sports, old western movies and making sure Rose never missed her “soap operas”. He took pride in not only his children’s accomplishments but also that of his grandchildren’s and made sure to spend as much time as possible with each one of them.
James was a man of great faith. In his nightly prayers he would always include family, friends and anyone with an undue hardship or illness. These prayers sometimes last several hours.
James is survived by his wife Rose and their children: Patricia “Trish” Seymour and husband George, James “Bubba” Hardy Jr. and wife Kendra, Kenneth Hardy and wife Sheila, Dianna Stuber and husband Stew. Ronnie Hardy and wife Shelley. In addition, 11 grandchildren (and any significant other) and 15 great-grandchildren, brother William Hardy and wife Virginia, sister Kay Orchard, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
He is proceeded in death by daughter “Guardian Angel” Kathleen Marie, and parents Mamie Vickery and Frank Hardy.
The greatest gift as a family we received from God we called Husband, Daddy and Paw Paw. We are blessed and thankful for the unconditional love, guidance, sacrifice, support, strength and faith. James will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but they take comfort knowing he is with his Heavenly Father and one day we will all be reunited again.
The Hardy family would like to extend their gratitude to the home health care providers Kimberly and Russell for their professional and personal love, attention and compassionate care they have provided over the years.
