Jim was my younger brother and is sorely missed.  There is nothing  that can replace a brother !!!!!

This has been the hardest thing for me to do.  Jim was more than a friend, he was my best friend.  We loved to rile each other up and push each others button, but we never stayed mad at the other.  Within 20 minutes, it was either "I am sorry" or we would both start laughing.  I will miss my trips to Goliad and the big hugs he would always give me.  Especially when he knew I needed one.  I will miss that deep, hardy laugh when he found something funny.  I will miss the fact that he refused to call me by my married name.  He told me that I would always be "Nancy Berger" to him.  I love and miss you my friend.  One day, we will see each other again.

Jim was a good stepdad, even when I was at my worst. He treated us well, and treated my mom well too. Frank, I wish you had been there for Parker's graduation party. Jim was invited, but never RSVP'd or declined, and I just assumed he wasn't coming. He walked in, fashionably late, and we were all so happy to see him. Parker walked up, gave him a hand shake and a hug, and genuinely thanked him for coming. I'm so glad I have a happy memory of the last time I saw him.

Jim believed in God, and enjoyed his life.
His main love was steam engines and trains.
We will all miss him terribly at Akin family gatherings.  Jim is at peace now.  God bless my cousin Jim.

I enjoyed working with Jim through soil survey.  He was a frank and clear voice advocating new, but reasonable, science.  He will be missed.

Fond memories of Jim at Church of Christ in Goliad over the past few years. He will be missed in Goliad, always having a good story to share and a big hug. Also a note from his neighbor Bonnie Doerr who says to give her regards and that Jim will be greatly missed in the neighborhood. Our prayers are with you.
