Jackson Gerry Johnson

Jackson (Jack) Gerry Johnson passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2pm, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.

Jack was born on May 24, 1948, in Dallas, Texas. He was the oldest of two children born to Jewell Beatrice Johnson and Jackson Johnson. Jack graduated from North Dallas High School and was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1968. He spent two years with the 8th Infantry Division in Germany where he was a member of the Golden Arrow Pistol Team and the 8th Division Pistol Team where he won numerous awards and trophies.

After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he returned to his hometown of Dallas, Texas, where he met the love of his life and started a thirty-year career with Diebold Inc. During his thirty-year career at Diebold, he traveled from Dallas to Atlanta and finally settled in his Houston home, where he raised two children. After his career with Diebold, he began a second career with Memorial Hermann where he worked an additional fourteen years and ultimately retired in 2016.

Jack had a passion for travel. His urge to travel led him all over the world. From cruising to motorcycle riding, he had a spirit of adventure that never stopped. His love of history was part of the travel experience. He enjoyed walking in the steps of soldiers from World War II to the Civil War. He enjoyed movies of that era as well. However, his greatest passion were his wife and children.

Jack is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Lorraine Katherine Johnson, son Jackson Gerry Johnson and wife Sarah Leia Johnson, daughter Julia Gayle Lane and husband Luther Micky Lane, granddaughters Kennedy Elizabeth Lane and Reagan Grace Lane, as well as his twin brother Jonathan Jerry Johnson and wife Debbie Marie Johnson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Jack is preceded in death by his mother, Jewell Beatrice Johnson, and his grandmother Lillie Mae Ritch.
