Born in Reynosa on May 29, 1945, Mima will be remembered as the caretaker across generations. It was a family rite of passage to sit in her high chair—a fixture in the kitchen for many years. Her home was a haven to all who sought one. Her words, a comfort to all who needed them.
Giving was a way of life for Mima. She freely gave her recipes and cooking tips, her advice and praise, her perspective on the latest novela stories. She enjoyed gardening and raising chickens. It is hard to think of anything Mima did that did not reflect her instinct for caring and nurturing. The lone exception might be the time she spent playing lotería, during which she was stealthily competitive.
Mima is survived by her son, Roberto Alba Lopez, his wife Karla Martinez, and grandchildren, Arely, Axel, and Aaron; sister Diamantina Alba and her sons, Juan Miguel Santos and Luis Angel Santos; sister Clementina Alba Santos, her husband Santiago Santos Santos, and their children, Santiago Alba Santos, Cindy Alba Thomas, Elizabeth Alba Santos, and Crystal Alba Santos; adoptive daughter, Clementina Trevino and her children, Isabel Toscano, Juan Toscano, David Lee Alba, and Michelle Trevino; and many other extended family members. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Rafael Lopez.
