Hue Thi Hoang

Hoàng Thị Huệ, 81, of Houston, Texas, passed away on April 14, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born in Quảng Ngãi, Vietnam, on October 9, 1943, to Hoàng Mộng Lương (father) and Lương Thị Đại (mother).

Huệ immigrated to the United States in the late 70’s, and lived in Silver Springs, Maryland, for a few years with her siblings and family before relocating to Houston, Texas, after getting married. She often worked the night shifts as she was taking secretarial classes during the day. After working for a local wholesale produce company for a year, Huệ began her own career as a business owner in wholesale produce on Airline Drive called Wong Produce Co., LLC., which opened in 1986, and catered mostly to local Asian restaurants and supermarkets – even the Texas State Penitentiary at Huntsville tried to have her deliver produce regularly to their prison at one point! In the end, she declined the offer, citing the delivery distance was just too far for their little business.

Huệ operated her business until her retirement in 2001. She spent most of her free time during retirement volunteering at the local Buddhist temples. You could always find her helping in the kitchen or dining area every Sunday! She often did this until the arrivals of her two grandchildren in 2014 and 2016. Huệ was also an avid reader, her collection of books almost got out of hand until she realized she had to start donating books she had already finished reading, though it was VERY tough for her to pick which ones to give up.

Huệ was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by her brother, Hoàng Mộng Điệp of France, her sister, Hoàng Thị Hồi and husband Bùi Xuân Nhiếp of Canada, her brother, Hoàng Mộng Giới and wife Công Huyền Tôn Nữ Bình Minh of Canada, her brother, Hoàng Mộng Trí and wife Phạm Đăng Phương of Silver Springs, Maryland. She is also survived by her daughter, Mindy Wong Williams and husband Eric of Houston, Texas, along with her two grandchildren, Austin and Alice, in addition to numerous family members.

A visitation for Huệ will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Chapel of Eternal Peace at Forest Park, 2454 S Dairy Ashford, Houston, TX 77077. Buddhist chants and prayers will occur Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Chapel of Eternal Peace of Forest Park. Funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 2454 S Dairy Ashford, Houston, TX 77077.
