Howard Lane Graves was born in Houston, Texas on December 4, 1933, to Joseph and Florence Graves. He is the third oldest of seven children - Harold Sr.(deceased), Joseph Jr. (deceased), Olin (deceased), Doretha (deceased), Aldora, and Theo. He was raised in the 6th Ward section of Houston and attended Houston public schools. Howard joined church at an early age. For many years he attended Lyons Unity Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor O.C. Johnson, who was also his best friend. He worked at Wayne Broyles Engineering for approximately 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters - Edna, Tanya, and Deborah Ann, and sons Michael, Bryant, and Anthony. He leaves to mourn yet cherish his memory: wife Earline Graves, daughters - Brenda Turner, Linda Toines (Maurice), Cheryl Graves, Cynthia Graves, Amanda Gibson, LaWanda Gibson; sons - Fredrick Jackson, Sr. and Kelvin "Bubba" Woodley Sr., fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson; one brother Theo; one sister Aldora; one grandson, Cedric Gibson whom he raised as his own and numerous relatives and friends.
