Herlinda Rodriguez, age 94, of Houston, Texas passed away on Saturday February 24, 2018. Herlinda was born November 9, 1923 in Bryan, TX. Herlinda had a fighting spirit from the start, despite only going to the second grade, Herlinda taught herself to read and write.
Herlinda married the love her life, Manuel on December 31, 1945. Through there union they had five children. Herlinda was a devoted mother and housewife for many years. Herlinda also worked as a seamstress at Best Tailor shop. She was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista de Kinwood. She had a passion for missions and politics. Herlinda will be missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Herlinda is survived by; children and their spouses Manuel"Manny" Rodriguez, Thomas "Tommy" Rodriguez, Linda Ann Rodriguez Lemon, Mary Arroyos and husband Ruben, grandchildren Elissa Maria Rodriguez, Sarah Marie Rodriguez, Adam"Bo"Miranda, Tony "Chen" Miranda, Alyssa Miranda, Rachel Diaz, Manuel Diaz Jr., Gloria Diaz,Mary Esther Velez and husband Ramsey, Janette Diaz, Gloria Arroyos, Kenny Arroyos, Norma Arroyos and great-grandchildren Laila ,Toni, Aaliyah, Richard, Anthony, Monica,Joey, Lisa, Patrick, Michael, Amber, Robert, Stephen, Jacqlyn, Kimberli.
Herlinda was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years Manuel R. Rodriguez; daughter, Elissa "Licha" Diaz; parents, Refugio Sabino Salazar and Teresa Enriques, siblings, Beatrice Salazar, Berlin Salazar, Aladin Salazar, and granddaughter Diana Suarez.
A visitation for Herlinda will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Brookside Funeral Home. A prayer service will occur Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 7:00 pm. The funeral service will occur Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 9:30 am, at Brookside Funeral Home, the committal service will follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are Elissa Rodriguez, Laila Rodriguez, Adam "Bo" Miranda, Tony "Chen" Miranda, Manuel Diaz Jr., Genero Avalos, Adam Miranda Sr. and Mark "Markitos" Valerio.
