Hazel Janet Childers, age 90 was born on July 6, 1924 in Shepherd TX and went to be with our Heavenly Father on April 6, 2015. She passed away at her home in Willis TX. Hazel is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Ted C. Childers Sr. and siblings: Allen Morris, J.O. Morris, Frank Morris, Melvin G. Morris, Lillie Mae McCann and Opal Owens.
She is survived by children: Linda Hinkle of Panorama Village, TX; Ted C. Childers Jr. & wife, Phoebe Childers of Houston, TX; and Ernest Childers of San Antonio, TX. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Marlena Cox & husband Dennis Cox Jr.; Brian Arrant & wife, Tess Arrant; Audra Simpson & husband, Steve Simpson; Ted C. Childers III & wife, Una Childers; and Loryn Childers. 9 great grandchildren: Dalton Cox, Tamara Tyler, Kadee Cox, Natalie Simpson, Tyler Simpson, Ashleigh Arrant, Ted Childers IV, Maggie Childers and Laken McCullough. 1 great great grandson, Stetson Faulkner as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members. Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was a kind, loving, Christian woman and was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class at Mims Baptist Church in Conroe, TX. A few months ago, she completed reading the Bible from beginning to end. It took her a long time but she was very proud that she was able to finish it.
She lived in Channelview, TX for many years and worked at Pilgrim Cleaners. When she left Channelview, she moved to Livingston then to Willis, where she resided when she passed away. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family and friends. She was always able to remember people and life events in great detail. She was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Cox, Dalton Cox, Ted Childers III, Steve Simpson, Brent Owens and Matt Owens.
The visitation and service will be on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Howard Glendale Funeral Home in Houston, TX. Visitation will be at 12:00 noon, with the service following immediately at 1:00pm. Burial will be at San Jacinto Memorial Cemetery.
