Hattie lived a long life full of love and laughter. She enjoyed fifty-seven amazing years of marriage with her loving husband, Bohumil (Buddy) Siegel. Together they enjoyed bowling, traveling and dancing. Their favorite song to dance to was “When the Blue Moon Turns to Gold”. Hattie and Buddy always enjoyed their REA Railroad Company bowling co-ed league, which traveled nationwide to bowling tournaments and competitions. She (along with Buddy) also belonged to the Polka Club and the SPJST Hall Friendship Club. Hattie also enjoyed sewing and baking/cooking for her family. She will always be remembered for her delicious Kolaches and Apple Strudel baked the “Bohemian” way!
Hattie was a devoted catholic member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Galena Park, Texas where she served as an Eucharistic Minister for many years. She was also the co-founder of the Ladies Forget-Me-Knot Club.
Hattie is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Surovec, her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Bohumil (Buddy) Siegel, Her siblings: Paul, Emil, Mary, Adella, and Rose; and a special nephew, Billy Hughes.
She leaves to cherish her memories with, her only child, her daughter, Barbara Lynn Callaway and her husband, Steve Callaway, two grandsons: Steven Callaway and his wife, Irma Callaway, and Bryan Callaway, two great-grandchildren: Kaleb Callaway and Kaycin Callaway, a sister-in-law, Eileen Surovec, and a very special friend, Jane, her “Sunshine” and roommate at Cedar Bayou Nursing Home. Hattie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and her husband’s family members.
The services for Mrs. Hattie Helen Siegel will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. The visitation will begin at 10am with the funeral mass to follow at 11am. The Burial will take place at Forest Park Lawndale following all services. Hattie’s life will be celebrated by Priest Angel Vincente Aglia and Deacon Javier Gomez.
Pallbearers will be Steve Callaway, Steven Callaway, Bryan Callaway and Emil Surovec.
The family would like to extend special thank yous to Cedar Bayou Nursing Home in Baytown, Texas, Park Manor Nursing Home in Conroe, Texas, and Heart to Heart Hospice of Houston, Texas for their compassionate care, comfort and support.
