Harvey Ellison Wheeler

Harvey Ellison Wheeler was born to Clara and Harvey Temple Wheeler and was their second son. He was the younger brother to Robert Lewis Wheeler. Harvey was born, raised and lived most of his life in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Bellaire High School in 1957 and continued on to the University of Houston to successfully pursue a BBA and MBA. While at UH, he met his first wife, Irene Lieban. During their 14 year marriage they had 4 children, Kevin Michael, Meredith, Jessica and Geoffrey Lane. Harvey married Ramona Moriarty in 1993 and they lived in Magnolia, Texas and later moved to The Woodlands, Texas. It was from here that he began his long journey with dementia which ended peacefully on November 11, 2020 at The Pines At Oakhurst in Spring, Texas.

Harvey always had his creative outlets close at hand. He was a photographer and musician as well as a great businessman. He started his career in his teens at National Photographic Laboratories. As he rose through the ranks to Senior Vice President, his duties became increasingly uncreative, so he had extracurricular activities to enjoy, like working with the American Guild of Organists, including being Dean of the Houston Chapter and he started playing the organ at Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church, where he stayed for many years as Organist, Organ Builder and Choir Director. From St. Matthew's he launched the music group Rainbow in 1985. He produced live concerts and CDs with Rainbow for many years. It was through Rainbow that he met is second wife, Ramona Moriarty. As his role at work kept shifting, Harvey decided to change careers and taught Economics and Finance at local business universities until he retired. He particularly enjoyed teaching inmates in the Huntsville Prison System, which he did for some years at the end of his career.

Harvey was always the friendliest person in the room. He was a friend to everyone and that is why when he left us, he did indeed cross a Rainbow bridge to the Heaven where he longed to go. He will be sorely missed, but he is now free of his Earthly chains, and a spirit like his will surely soar through the heavens with much glee. He is preceded by both his parents and his niece Kaylyn Wheeler. He is survived by his wife Ramona Wheeler, his brother Robert Wheeler, his four children Kevin, Meredith, Jessica, and Geoffrey, step-children Jessica Citso and Shawn Moriarty, niece, nephew, grandkids, and lots of friends.
