Guadalupe "Lupe" R. Peña

Proceeded in death by her husband of 48 years Eugene B. Peña, parents, Concepcion & Gabriel Rodriguez Sr., siblings, Cristina Trinidad Rodriguez, Gabriel Rodriguez Jr., and Manuela “Nellie” R. Luna, granddaughter Dena Everett and grandson James Quentin. Known by many as “Lupe”, she went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2021 in Houston, Texas.

She married the love of her life Eugene B. Peña on May 15, 1954 in Portsmouth, Ohio. They later moved to Chicago, Illinois where they began their family of four children. The family returned to their Texas home after thirteen years.

While in Chicago Lupe worked for a doctor’s office, then in Houston, Texas she proudly worked for Weiner’s Department store #22 for 26 years. A long-time member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Lupe lived a beautiful and loving life and experienced the many blessings God would bring her. Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, and friend to many. Affectionately known as “Nana” by her grandchildren.

Her greatest joys in life were her family. The bond of her siblings, the love for her children, the devotion to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was never ending. She was gracious and generous to all. She never held ill will towards anyone. Her faith was endless. Her love was boundless. Mother was nonjudgmental and prayed for all who asked of her and then some. “She Loved Unconditionally”

She is survived by her children, Charmaine “Terri” Peña, Eugene B. Peña and wife Angela, Carmen Rose and husband Jesse G. Reyes Jr., Cleo Lynn and husband Larry Hammond and siblings Reynalda Beltran, Genevieve “Jean” Mercado, Oscar Rodriguez, and Bessie Ahrendt. Grandchildren, Sherry, Eugene, Dee Dee, Melissa, Claire, Jimmy, Jesse III, and Lauren, Sean, Shannon, Kara, and Jacob, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is home in the arms of her beloved husband Gene standing upright and dancing in the sight of Our Lord.
