Obituary
Gregorio M. Herrera Sr., 88, entered into rest to be with the Lord on Monday, April 10, 2023. Gregorio was born on May 25, 1934, in Glen Flora, Wharton County, Texas, to parents Mr. Guzman Herrera and Mrs. Natalia Martinez Herrera. During Gregorio’s life, he achieved many accomplishments that range from being a Husband, Father, a dedicated professional in the service industry along with being a low-key philanthropist.
Gregorio met his lovely wife Antonia Espinosa-Herrera and fathered six children. Everyone who knew Gregorio loved him for his charisma, sense of humor, honesty, and generosity. During his free time, Gregorio loved staying busy working around the house, traveling, relaxing, spending time with family, barbecuing, earning and donating money.
Gregorio dedicated his professional life to the University of Houston, for 30 years before retiring for a short stint. Gregorio felt the passion to return to his profession and proceeded to resume his career at Rice University for another ten years, as Chief Custodian at both major universities.
Gregorio is survived by his children, Rosemary Herrera-Sanchez, Mary Lou Herrera-Lord and husband Timothy Lord, David Herrera and wife Anita Herrera, Gregorio Herrera, Jr., as well as Anthony G. Herrera and wife Monica Herrera. Gregorio is also survived by sibling Dolores Herrera-Zamarripa.
Gregorio is also survived by his grandchildren, Richard (Carrizal, Jr.), Arthur (Sanchez, Jr.), Sonia (Carrizal-Galvan), David (Herrera, Jr.), Paulette (Sanchez), Teresa (Herrera-Rodriguez), Rachel (Herrera-Bravo), Ruben (Sanchez), Patricia (Herrera-Aguilar), Gregory (Herrera), Monica (Herrera), Eric (Herrera), Alexia (Macias), Brianna (Torres), Christian (Torres) and Elissa (Herrera). Gregorio is also survived by 29 great-grandchildren.
Gregorio is preceded in passing by his parents Guzman and Natalia Herrera, wife Antonia Espinoza Herrera, daughter Angel Herrera, and brothers Pablo Herrera, Pascual Herrera, Jesus Herrera, Guzman Herrera, Jr. as well as Sisters Lily Herrera, Maria Herrera and Emilia Herrera.
A public visitation and Rosary will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Rosary from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

A church mass will then be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

A committal service will be Friday, April 14, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM
at Historic Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 N Main St, Houston, TX 77009.
