Vaudine was born in Gilmer, TX on November 28, 1928 to the late Amos William and Myra May Snider. She married Herman Alvis Mayes in July, 1946; they were married for 31 years.
When her husband unexpectedly passed away in 1978, she took over ownership of Mayes Hardware Store in Splendora, TX, and ran it for over 40 years. She was a voracious reader and avid basketball fan, and followed the Houston Rockets, and later after her move to Austin, the San Antonio Spurs.
She is survived by her brother, Jerry Snider and wife Vicky, and children, Sandra Wason and Alton Mayes and his wife Joanne, and 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Mayes, and children, Joey Lamb, Jackie Trusty, Larry Mayes, and Reba Mayes.

A visitation for Goldie will be held Monday, December 11, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A graveside service will occur Monday, December 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park.
