Gilbert Gerard Dufilho

Gil was the youngest of the five children and went to All Saints Catholic School in Houston Heights. He served as an Altar Server throughout grade school. He graduated from St. Thomas High School and attended The University of St. Thomas. Gil had a zest for life and had a great and creative sense of humor which he loved to share with his nieces and nephews. He had a love for cars, good food, good conviviality, and playing cards - especially canasta and poker. On a deeper level, he had an active faith which he embraced until his last breath.

Gil had a long career in residential and commercial real estate. His major successes however went beyond his career. His success is measured most significantly with the way he interacted with his family, friends and business associates. As a lifelong bachelor he was a generous and giving person and became the caretaker of both his dad and mother. His cheerful generosity touched many people.

Gil is preceded in death, by his parents, his paternal and maternal grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his sister-in-law, Mary Dufilho. He is survived by his siblings, Maurice Dufilho III, Dennis Dufilho, Stephen (Adele) Dufilho, and Laurie (Bob) Bautista; and Margarita Quiroga-Dufilho. He also leaves his much-loved nieces and nephews: Carmen, Maurice IV, and Thomas Dufilho; David, Karen and Jimmy Dufilho; Cathy, John, Betsy, Mark, and Mike Dufilho; Sharon, Susan and Bob Jr Bautista; as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery for family members. Visitation will be Friday March 24 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in the Narthex, followed by a Memorial Mass of Thanksgiving at noon. The family asks that donations be made to The American Diabetes Association in remembrance of Gil.
