Georgia Lee Luckett

Ecclesiastes 3:1 "To everything there is a season, and to a time and purpose under the heaven." Georgia Lee King Luckett was born July 3, 1921 in Onalaska Texas, the daughter of Alice Eleby and Joe King. Both parents preceded her in death. She began school in Onalaska. At the age of thirteen she came to Houston, Texas where she graduated second in her class from Jack Yates High School. She attended Mary Allen College. In February, 1943, She married George Luckett. To this union was born five children, Bettye, Shirley, George Jr., and Cecil and Cecile. I Corinthians 3:13 "Her work shall be shown for what it is." At an early age, she accepted Christ under her grandfather, Rev. John Wesley King. Later, in Houston, she joined Rose Hill Baptist Church. In 1956, She joined Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. H. L. Price, a very active servant of God until her health failed, she served in Mission I for many years as teacher and Vice President, taught the Women's Sunday school, taught the high school children in Vacation Bible School and worked with the Sunshine Band. Georgia was the "World's Greatest Cook." She worked at Memorial Hospital in dietary for 25 years. She always baked and cooked great dinners and desserts not just for the family, but also for family and friends. After retiring from Memorial, she began a very successful catering business. She catered many weddings and parties for families and friends. Her home was like a bakery always during the holidays. She made cakes, pies, cookies and dinners for friends and families. Romans 10: 1 "Brethren, My heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved." She made a graceful and peaceful transition from her labor on earth to her heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 11, at 8:51 o'clock in the evening. Preceding her in death are her husband George Luckett, Sr., son Cecil, and sister Bessie M. Pickens. She leaves to celebrate her life and with precious memories,: sons George and James, daughters Bettye Hightower, Shirley Jenkins, Cecile Green and Evelyn Barnett ( Larry) ; Eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; a close cousin Cleo Harris; close friends: Sis. E. Harnsberry, Sis R. Thompson and Vera Carson; Church members, family, and friends.
