George Edward Savage, 84, Cypress, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep November 26, 2021 at home. George was born on November 11, 1937 in Cincinnati Ohio to George & Hazel Savage. He also attended high school in Cincinnati Ohio. George joined the service and became a Marine in 1958.
He served during the Korean War for 4 years and was honorably discharged November 11, 1962. After the military he attended Purdue University and obtained his degree in Electrical Engineering. George wore many hats in his lifetime. He was a Proud Marine, Police officer, a cameraman for CBS, an elevator operator for ATT and then became an Electrical Engineer. He worked for Brown & Root for many years and lived all over the world before retiring in 2011. He enjoyed gathering with friends to play cards and dominoes. He rose in the ranks while working at the voting precincts and managed the setup, voting process, wrap up and tear down. George really had a heart for politics and would gladly share his views. He was quick witted and always ready with a joke. He enjoyed ushering at Hobby Center and loved going to Broadway shows. George was on a bowling league and really enjoyed that fellowship. He loved all sports and started many inaugural leagues with his children. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, children, Fine dining, Tennis and spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife Joyce Savage. Children George Savage, Sher Savage, John and wife Ramona Savage, Joan Savage, Suzanne and husband Clyde Murdock, Chris and wife Kara McClendon. Grandchildren Damon and wife Laura Savage, Dionne and husband Sean Haring, Jessica Savage, John and wife Danielle Savage, Jacob Savage, Michael McClendon, Robert McClendon. Great grandchildren Damon Savage, Kiley Savage, Skyy Haring, Jaiden Haring and Azure Haring.
A visitation for George will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cypress United Methodist Church, 13403 Cypress North Houston Road, Cypress, TX 77429. A reception will occur Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Cypress United Methodist Church, 13403 Cypress North Houston Road, Cypress, TX 77429. A committal service will occur Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
