Mr. Cooper was a retired Security Officer and a Catholic. He was born on April 5, 1944 in Parris Island, S.C., and was a graduate of Dollarway High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He served in the Navy as a Medic Corpsman attached to the U.S Marine Division.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George P. Cooper Sr. and Gladys Cooper Foster; and his younger brother, Thomas N. Cooper.
George is survived by his wife, Lucrecia Cooper, three children; George P. Cooper III, Stephanie Marshall and LeeAnn Dees and his sister Andrea Heird, of Little Rock, AR. He is also survived by his daughter in law Melissa Cooper, and two son in laws, Scott Marshall and Brandt Dees. George also leaves behind four loving grandchildren; Zachary Cooper, Priscilla Cooper, Penelope Dees and Amelia Marshall. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members who will all truly miss him.
Viewing and a rosary will be held on Wednesday, February 14th beginning at 5 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Cr., 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston 77095.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthew the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9915 Hollister St., Houston, on Thursday, February 15th at 10:30 a.m. with Father Martial Oya, presiding. Interment will be at the Houston National Cemetary, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038 at 1:15 p.m.
