Freddie (“Fred”) Gibson Weaver, age 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 26, 2017 in Houston, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on October 18, 1928 to Ruth Lynch and Berlie Weaver. He attended Tomball High School where he proudly graduated number 18 in his class (out of 18 students). He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War as a rifle instructor at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. After his enlistment ended, he returned to Houston, Texas and worked as a pipefitter for Shell Oil Company until his retirement.
Fred truly lived life to the fullest and managed to do so with a smile on his face everyday. He was an avid outdoorsman and adventurer and went hunting and fishing as often as possible with his brother-in-law and nephews. He was also a Lifetime Committeeman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, serving on the Parade Committee and Breeder’s Greeters Committee. His other passions included traveling, taking his granddaughter lunch everyday at school, working in the yard, playing with his dogs, keeping track of his daughter’s whereabouts at all times, and spending time with friends and family. However, 80% of the time he was looking for his wallet and keys. He had a quick wit and a sense of humor that could not be matched by many (unless the joke was on him and that was a different story). Fred was also a fierce protector and loved his family and his Lord unconditionally. He never met a stranger and was considered a surrogate grandpa to many people. Fred had four loves of his life, for whom he would move heaven and earth: Dolores Weaver (deceased wife), Freddie Fuller (daughter), Danya Gladney (granddaughter) and Carol Davis (his late in life love). He was an absolute treasure that the likes of this world will not soon see again.
Fred was proceeded in death by his mother, Ruth Lynch; father, Berlie Weaver; and wife, Dolores Weaver (Hester). He is survived by his Daughter, Freddie Gayle Fuller and her husband, Dan Fuller; granddaughter Danya Gladney and her husband Will Gladney; great-granddaughter Valerie Gladney; love, Carol Davis; sister, Barbara Pack and brother-in-law Bobby Pack; special nephew, Wade Hester; and many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 at Earthman’s Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, Texas 77060. The visitation with the family will immediately precede the funeral and will begin at 1:00 p.m.
