He was born in Houston, TX at St. Joseph Hospital on October 19, 1945. Fred graduated from M.B. Smiley High School. He married the love of his life, Floy Jewel Lafferty Schroeder, on July 31, 1965. Fred had a long career as a machinist at Schlumberger and after retiring from such, worked as a hot shot truck driver. Fred loved going to the beach, he was passionate about fishing, hunting, and taking care of his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary, his younger brother, Joe Lawrence and his grandson, Fred Schroeder III. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Floy Jewel Lafferty Schroeder, his children, Elizabeth Whitten, Fred E. Schroeder Jr., and Angela Russo, and his grandchildren, Charles, Emily, Madelyn, Sophia, and Gianna. Fred also had one great grandchild named Layla Jewel and had a great grandson on the way.
Fred was a family man. He worked hard to support his family, working multiple jobs when needed. He was also a very good friend, kind and generous when anyone was in need.
He loved his children and especially his grandchildren. He was always so happy to see them and was very proud of every one of them.
A visitation for Fred will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home with the burial to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
Repass to be held at New Caney Family Worship Center following the burial 23214 FM 1485, New Caney, TX 77357
Serving as pallbearers are Charles Whitten III, Anthony L. Russo, George Ware, Ronnie McCants, Lee Dean, Paul Burgess and Donald Knox.
