Frank was born on July 1, 1934 in Jackson, MS to Earle Ligon and Margaret Moore Whittington. He grew up in Memphis, TN and completed college at Indiana Technical Institute 1963.
He married Joanne Barnhart on January 21, 1956 and together they raised four children; Mark (and Chantal), Scott (and Terri), Blake (and Garrett Biehle) and Janet (and Gregory) Donovan. Joanne passed away August 16, 2000. Frank continued their devotion to their grandchildren Tyler Whittington-Glaine, Amanda Ashton, Justin Donovan, Julian Donovan, Andy Meraz, Robert Lopez, Danielle Lopez; and great grandchildren Russell Ashton and Cassidy Ashton.
Frank married Sue Yoder November 16, 2002. Frank was equally devoted to her children Matt Barley (and Christine) and Andrew Barley and grandchildren Caityln Barley and Jackson Barley.
Frank worked in the Houston oil industry over thirty years, retiring from Fluor in 2009.
Much to everyone’s surprise, Frank became an avid (if not overly skilled) skier, traveling to his time share in Colorado annually since the mid-1980s. He enjoyed skiing with his children and grandchildren. Frank was a dedicated Houston sports team fan for the fifty years he lived in the city. He especially loved the Astros, Texans and Oilers back in the day. He almost always covered his bald head with a cap from one of his teams, or from the schools his children and grandchildren attended. After retirement Frank renewed his enjoyment of fishing.
He was known as a kind and generous man. He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
