Mrs. Frances Elaine (Elaine) Bittner of Houston, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the age of 88, with her son, Kelly Bittner at her side. She was born on April 14, 1935 in Hearne, Texas where she grew in a tight knit Italian family surrounded by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy High School 1953, attended University of Houston, majored in business administration. She was a member of Pi Lambda Chi Sorority.
Elaine married Thomas William Bittner in 1955, the love of her life. Together, they built a life and had four wonderful sons. While raising her sons, she worked for Eastern Airlines and loved to travel. She visited Arizona, California, Florida, Mexico, New York, Italy, and Paris. Her personality was like a butterfly on the breeze bringing laughter and sunshine to all she encountered.
Elaine was a devout catholic and an active member of St John Vianney Catholic Church up until she became incapacitated.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Adeline Lampson Restino, father, Frank Altimore, husband, Thomas William Bittner, cousins, Yvonne Lampson Laschon & Lena “Lea” Jacobs (who were more like sisters), as well as numerous dear family members.
She is survived by her sons Thomas Bittner, wife Barbara Glass, Rocky Bittner, Barry Bittner, Kelly, wife Katherine, granddaughter, Kaitlyn Elaine, grandsons, Marcos Lopez, Jordan Bittner, wife Hailey, great grandchildren, Ethan, Bennett, Blakely, cousin Pete Lampson (more like a son), wife Trudy, and numerous cousins.
Elaine loved dancing, shopping, going to the beach, working on her perfect tan, laughing and being with family and friends. She was a typical Italian girl that always looked like she was ready to go dancing and many times pictures were taken and she always had a glass of wine in her hand or posed waiting for a glass. Her joy in life was her husband and sons, her nickname was Honey and until the end that is what her sons called her. In some papers she filled out for an Internet site, she was proud to be the mother of 4 strong and rambunctious boys and lived to tell the tale that, they were her “Greatest Achievement”. She was full of spirit, still water skiing in her 70’s, she was daring and loving and a full-blooded Italian with style and grace. Elaine was fierce and lived life on her terms and her way.
The family would like to thank Pete and Trudy Lampson of La Vita Bella for the care and compassion they showed Elaine in her final days as well as the preceding years. We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation and thanks to the staff members of La Vita Bella, especially Anna, Josie, Tina and Janice.
