Floyd Anthony Wicker was born to Edgar Wicker and Mary B. Boutte on April 18, 1928 in Houston, Texas. Even though Floyd was born a Wicker, he was raised by Joseph E. Mason. He attended Deaf Blind and Orphan School in Austin, Texas and graduated . While attending school in Austin he met and married I.D. Robertson in June of 1954. The couple lived in Houston, Texas for several years before relocating to Chicago, Illinois where there daughter Mary Ann "Cookie" Wicker was born. The new family returned to Houston, Texas in 1959. Floyd was a loyal member to the Lutheran Church for the Deaf until his departure. In addition, Floyd was an active member of the Houston Black Deaf Advocates for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph E. and Mary B. Mason, and Wife I.D. Wicker. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his daughter, Mary A. "Cookie" Wicker-Straughter (Clinton), two grand-daughters, Michele Lee Straughter-Stewart (William), and Tiffany Lane Straughter, two great grandchildren Chase Alexander Stewart and Monroe Mariah Shephard.
