Bodey was predeceased by his son Floyd G. Francis, Jr., and is survived by his wife of 39 years, Martha Lou Francis, his children, Gregory, Rebecca, Dennis, Ann, and Amy, with a plethora of grandchildren and great grandchildren. All the children of his blended family experienced his generous and all-encompassing love, and his wise counsel in a variety of life issues.
He was in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and retired as a Major from the USAF Reserves in 1973. He enjoyed being a Banker all of his professional life, however, family and sports came first.
Bodey was always playing sports or watching them being played. He was an avid bowler for 70 years. He was a “300 bowler” with a ring to prove it. Even at the age of 85 he bowled 11 strikes in a row. Bodey also loved playing golf. And was a member of the Pan American Golf Association since 1975. He was also a member of the Turnverein Club, as well as the Lion’s Club.
On Tuesdays, he also loved playing Pinochle with his friends at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, of which Bodey had been a member since 1977. Another hobby of his was playing Craps and Black Jack. From 1970’s onward, he kept a list of his wins, losses and running total, always knowing where he stood.
Bodey was the “head cook” at home and spoiled his wife, Martha, and the rest of the family by cooking the special dishes they liked IF he was given proper notice!
IN lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made to: St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 420 Woodard Street, Houston, TX 77009.
