Faye Scott was born on December 21, 1932, to the parents of Elijah Scott and Pauline Younf in Houston, Texas. Faye attended and was educated in the Houston Independent School District. After graduation Faye attended Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education.
Sister Faye worked at the United States Post Office for several years. Later in life she worked as a school teacher for 40 years for the Houston Independent School District. She loved her students and they admired her.
Sister Faye met the love of her life, Jonathan and they were married in 1956. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born, Stephanie B. Gregory and Veronique M. Gregory; and one son, Corey Graves.
Sister Faye was baptized at an early age at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in the Sunnyside area of Houston. After their marriage, she and Jonathon united with Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Dr. A. A. McCardell, Sr. Sister Faye Gregory became a working member. She joined the Senior Choir, the Mission Society, and was devoted Sunday School member. She served under the leadership of the late Pastor Dr. Charles L. Jackson and she continue to serve as a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Sheldon L. Jackson. Sister Faye Gregory’s presence will be greatly missed.
Sister Faye Gregory leaves to cherish her sweet memories, husband, Jonathan Gregory; one son, Corey Graves; a special niece, Karen J. Huson; a special nephew, Duryea Scott; along with other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Faye will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2801 Conti St, Houston, TX 77020. A funeral services will occur Friday, July 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at PLEASANT GROVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 2801 Conti, Houston, TX 77020. A committal: will occur Friday, July 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Cemetery Beautiful, 8401 Wheatley St, Houston, TX 77088.
