Eva Margie Scott (Tootsie) was born to Clarence and Ella Bennett on December 10, 1941 in Bethany, LA. She was brought to Houston, TX in 1942 where she went to school and graduated from B. C. Elmore in June of 1960. She also attended classes at Texas Southern University.
Eva accepted the Lord at a young age and was a member of The Church Of The Living God – PG & T in Houston, TX. She met and married Alvin Scott in 1961. To this union was born four sons, Kevin, Anthony, Virgil and Sean Scott.
Eva and the family moved to Los Angeles in 1962. Eva joined The Church Of The Living God (L.A.) under the late William Marbley and then under Bishop David Taylor. She loved the Lord and served in the choir for over 50 years and taught Sunday School Classes. She was a requested soloist among the California churches. She absolutely loved serving the Lord and encouraged her sons to follow suit.
While living in Los Angeles, Eva worked for the U. S. Postal Services for 33 years and was noted to be an exemplary employee. In the year 2000, Eva and family moved back to Houston, TX and rejoined the Church of the Living God under the leadership of Bishop Jerry Burley.
In August, 2017 Eva joined The Way of Life Church under the leadership of Pastor Chris Clemons. She served faithfully in The Way of Life Church working with the infants and was one of Pastor Chris’ most staunch encourager and supporter.
Eva departed this life Friday, March 24, 2023. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, five sisters and one brother.
Eva leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Alvin M. Scott Jr; four sons. Kevin R. Scott, Anthony D. Scott (Luerendia), Virgil A. Scott (Jackie), Sean C. Scott (Lakeisha); three sisters, Maxine Bennett Turner (J.W.Turner), Maxie Marie Williams, and Sandra Ella Burley (Bishop Jerry Burley); seventeen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service 11 am, Saturday April 8, 2023, at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3015 North Macgregor Way, Houston, Texas, 77004. Visitation will begins at 10am followed by service. Interment at Brookside Memorial Park.
