Eugenia (Jean) Viola Jones Kingston, 86, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 in Houston, Texas. She was born March 22, 1938 in Rabbit Hill, Georgia. She moved to the Houston area in 1951, graduating from Galena Park High School in 1956. While working at a bank downtown, she met and married Joe V. Kingston.
Being involved in her children’s lives, she became PTA president at Pyburn Elementary and Woodland Acres Junior High. After Joe passed in 1979, she went to work as the church secretary at Jacinto City Church of Christ, where she shared her faith and love of God with all. In Jean’s retirement years she moved to Mineola, Texas to be close to family there and would go on to live with all of children at different points in time. She spent her final years living in Houston, Texas with her son.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Vaughan Kingston; her mother Mildred Lee Clanton Jones and father Charles Dilworth Jones; her brother Charles Harold Jones and twin sister Annie (Ann) Lula Jones Turner; daughters Kristena Gay Kingston Tibbs and Karolyn Fay Kingston Chronister; and great-granddaughter Wynrie Knox McClendon.
She is survived by brother Lawrence Jones; Children: Kym Renee Kingston Craigie and Joe Vaughn Kingston Jr; Grandchildren: Chessa Hays, Tarin Archibald, Leith Chronister, Shanda Micheels, Allyson McClendon, Blaise Chronister, Ellyn Condon, James Tibbs, Addie Woodard, Karis Wade, and Joshua Kingston; 22 Great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved church family.
Jean treasured being a mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister in Christ. She enjoyed reading scripture, watching the Food Network, and games shows with family. Jean was loved by all who knew her and will be missed dearly.

Visitation will be held for Jean on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Advantage Funeral Home, 7010 Chetwood Dr. Houston, Texas 77081.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 1:00pm at Jamestown Central Church of Christ, 22022 FM 1253, Mineola, Texas with interment to follow at Jamestown Cemetery.
