She was born to the late Raymond and Josephine Carrillo on March 17, 1918 in Houston, Texas. She is survived by her loving husband, Elias B. Lopez, her two loving children, Cynthia D. Aguirre and husband Benny, Gilbert Torres and wife Theresa, nephew Eligio Loredo and wife Ruth, their daughters Stephany Loredo, Victoria Loredo, son Jose Loredo and wife Evelyn Cruz, and their child, Sebastian Loredo, and also by her beloved pet poodle Pumpkin.
Esther is also survived by her loving sisters, Lillian C. Ferguson and husband Robert, Otilia C. Mendez and husband Raymond, Eloise C. Brambila and husband Oscar, and brother Albert A. Carrillo and wife Imelda, and sister-in-law Geneva Carrillo, and many nieces and nephews.
She was blessed with three grand children, Mark A. Alvarez, Melissa Y. Alvarez, and Adilia M. Carmona.
She was also blessed with eight great grandchildren, Enrique J. Lozano, Mark A. Alvarez II, Raymond V. Alvarez, Malia L. Alvarez, Isaiah J. Llanito, Richard Cruz III, Giselle V. Centeno, Raul A. Centeno.
Also her most recent blessing was with the birth of her great great grandchild Adelina Nicole Cruz.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Josephine Carrillo, her first husband Raymond Torres Sr., her first born Raymond Torres Jr., her sisters, Emily Garza, Angelina Zamora, Beatrice C. Martinez, brothers, Raymond Carrillo Jr. and David Carrillo.
Esther was a student at Sam Houston High School which at the time was located in downtown on Capital St. She made it to the eleventh grade but was unable to graduate due to the help needed to support the family.
One of Esther's first jobs, was working at an Olive Packing Co. in Alvin, Texas. Some time after she met her first love Raymond Torres Sr., she got married, then joined him in Muskogee, Oklahoma. After he got drafted into the army during World War II, she worked in a candy store for a while, then returned to Houston to give birth to the first of three children. She then got a job at Ralph Rupley Furs and worked there for the next 50 years as a fur finisher and custom monogramed all the fur coats in her own beautiful handwriting. She retired from there at the age of 75, but continued her fur work from home for a few more years.
She was a loving mother, who always put her children first. She served as Den mother for her oldest son Raymond Jr.'s cub scout troop. She was always faithful to God and was a devoted member at Juan Marcos Presbyterian Church, all her life, and also did volunteer work for the church community outreach program.
Esther loved life and enjoyed cooking, going to the movies, going out to eat, and loved to go shopping. She was always ready to go anywhere and do everything. She would get up every morning and get dressed up as if she were going to meet the President. She was always dressed up regardless if she went anywhere or not, she was a very glamorous lady.
Esther, loved being around people, and especially enjoyed going places and spending time with her daughter, and family as a whole, and was very family oriented. Everything and everyone was beautiful to her. That's how much she loved life. She really loved fresh flowers and garden plants, she loved to decorate her home, and loved elegance. She will be greatly missed by all, and was a great inspiration to all her loved ones, and all the people who knew her.
