Ernest Allen Cole, Jr., was born August 5, 1913 in Belton, Texas to Ernest Allen Cole, Sr. and Nettie Mae Henderson Cole. Ernest Allen Cole, Jr passed away on May 31, 2013 in Houston, TX. He graduated from Temple High School, Temple Junior College and Rice University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Allen was employed by Petrolite Corp. (now Baker Hughes) for 37 years. At the time of his retirement he was President of Petrolite Corp., Manager of Equipment, Instrument and Pollution Control Divisions and a member of the Board of Directors. He held many U.S. and foreign patents for the purification and processing of petroleum and it's products. He was a member of the Harrisburg Rotary Club, American Petroleum Institute, American Chemical Society, Houston Engineering Club, Houston Club, Lakeside Country Club, South Main Baptist Church and many other organizations.His hobbies were fishing, hunting, traveling, reading, investing and enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, LeRoy Mason Cole, a grandson, Roy Allen Cole and two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his two sisters, Sylvera Barton and Mildred Myers of Temple, TX; his sons Ernest Allen Cole III and wife Janellen, Roy Mason Cole and wife Mabel; grandchildren, Debra Lee Helbert and husband Wayne, Melissa O'Connell Mercier and husband Chris, Christian O' Connell, Melissa Kate Cole, Amy Cristina Martinez, and Ernest Allen Cole IV and wife Kellie; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family wants to express their deep gratitude and appreciation for his care-givers; Ernestine Dickerson, Gertie Marshall and Carolyn Sanderson for their dedication and loving care. They also want to thank the staff at Bayou Manor and Hallmark Hospice for their sincere care and professional service.
