On Friday, December 2, 2022, Emma Jean Twardowski, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home to be with the Lord and loved ones that passed before her. She was born November 14, 1939, in Houston, Texas to Harold and Elizabeth Leach. She was 83 years old at the time of her passing.
Emma Jean graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1957. She married Elton Larry Turnipseed in 1957 and had three children, Chery Jean Turner, Larry Dean Turnipseed, and James Harold Turnipseed. In 1978 she married Stanley Joe Twardowski, and they enjoyed dancing together for many years at Bill Mraz Dance Hall. She worked at Diagnostic Clinic of Houston for 40 years as a billing and collections supervisor until her retirement in 2004. She was a huge Astros fan, nothing made her happier than seeing the Astros get their first World Series in 2017 and when they won it again this year in 2022 was topping on the cake. She would not answer her phone during Astro games and very rarely missed a game on TV.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harold Albert Leach and Rachel Elizabeth Leach, and son Larry Dean Turnipseed. She is survived by her sisters Nancy Carswell, Janett Hitt and husband Charles, daughter Cheryl Turner and husband Bobby, son James Turnipseed and wife Desiree, grandchildren Rachel Peterson and husband Matt, Travis Turner and wife Claire, Maegan Snapp and husband Jonny, and Jay Turnipseed. Great-grandchildren, Will Peterson, Lila Peterson, Nate Peterson, Raelynn Snapp, and Colt Snapp.
We would like to acknowledge the tremendous help that our mom’s sisters’ caregivers have been throughout the last 3 years in helping Emma Jean; Jean, Octavia, Mae, Linda, Esmeralda, Michelle, Crystal, and others. She loved all of you and our family appreciates everything you have done for her. We would also like to thank Mark Leach, her cousin, for his help in taking care of mom over the years. You all meant so much to her.
