Rev. Jackson joined Sweet Home Baptist Church in Amite County, Mississippi at an early age. In 1952, he moved to Brookhaven, Mississippi and united with Lillie Memorial Temple Church of God in Christ where he served on the Deacon Board. In 1973, Emerson moved to Houston, Texas where he joined Greater New Testament Baptist Church.
Rev. Jackson and April Daniels was united in marriage in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, four brothers and two sisters.

Emerson Jackson leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife April Jackson; seven daughters, Mazie Jones of Bear, Delaware, Laura Jackson of Newark, Delaware, Ann Jackson, Kathy Hardy (Dennis), Burnette Edwards (Leroy), Levette Moody (Stephan) all of Houston, Texas, Patricia White (Milton) of Glendora, California; seven sons: Robert Thadison (Linda) of Topeka, KS Cleveland Thadison of Katy, Texas, Emerson F. Jackson (Barbara) of Rosharon, Texas, William Cook (Nancy) of Dallas, Texas, Adam Daniels, Jr., Curtis Daniels, Danny Daniels of Houston, Texas and God-son, Terry Bates (Karen) of Brookhaven, Mississippi; two sisters, Hazel Granger of Gloster, MS and Betty Morgan of Natchez, Mississippi; 42 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
