Ellie C. Smith

Ellie Cleon Smith was born in Kite, Georgia on May 1, 1932 to parents Georgia Shipley and Virgil Smith.

He served his country during the Korean conflict in the Navy as a sailor (SN). He was officially discharged in 1955 with an Honorable Discharge.

He is preceded in death by his sister Emily and her husband Johnny Shattersworth, his brother Barney (JoAnn) Smith, and his stepdaughter Bonnie Lutz.

He leaves behind Lydia O. Smith, his beloved and devoted wife of 30 years. He also leaves his stepchildren Carolyn (Reed) Ross, Norma A. Ovalle-Joudat, Eglantina Guajardo, Paul Ovalle jr., (Rachel) and Luis Carlos Ovalle. As well as 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 12 great--greatgrandchildren.

Grandpa Ellie was an amazing, caring, funny and loving man. He was a 100% Astros fan and rarely missed a game on TV. He traveled and cruised the world with family and relatives. He had a good life!

He will be dearly missed by family and friends, and he will live in our hearts forever.

A visitation for Ellie will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A rosary service will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900, Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, followed by a graveside service from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
