Eleanor Kay Welborn

She was born in Houston on June 16, 1937 to the late Hollis and Marie Williams Rains. Kay graduated from Galena Park High School in 1955, and was married later that same year to her husband, Alton Wayne Welborn.

She proudly worked for Slocomb Insurance Agency for over 30 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Galena Park. She was also active in the Galena Park Eastern Star Chapter 884, Galena Park Garden Club, Galena Park Elementary PTA, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gary Rains.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Alton Welborn, son Mark Welborn, and daughter Kimberly Kyzer and husband Michael. Grandchildren Stephanie Nabors and husband Dustin, Kayla Hinson and husband Kevin, and Jedidiah Kyzer. Great grandchildren Luke Hinson, Olivia Nabors, Lilly Hinson, and Scarlett Nabors.

Pallbearers will be Jedidiah Kyzer, Billy Hamblen, Byron Jones, Kevin Hinson, Dustin Nabors, and Michael Kyzer.

A visitation for Kay will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A committal service will occur Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
