Doug graduated from Lamar High School in 1969 and was a part of the state championship baseball team. He attended the University of Texas where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He graduated from Sam Houston State in 1974 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Doug began K&P Construction in 1983 with Mr. Gary Knapp. It was their passion that these two shared that allowed their business to succeed and survive through the years. Outside of work, Doug was passionate about golf, travels, the Houston Astros, and his family. His infectious smile and one-liners will always be remembered.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and Donald and sister, Dallas Wasson. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Helen Neath Pung; daughter, Jennifer Dean and husband, Spencer; daughter, Michelle Pine and husband, Patrick; sister, Kerry Jo Humphrey; grandchildren, Clare and Isabel Dean, Connor and Eleanor Pine; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances of Douglas with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 25th of August, in the drawing room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 26th of August, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, where Rev. John Collier is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.
