Dorothy Dean Black Rogers, 83, of Meadows Place, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at The Hampton at Meadows Place. She was born on March 13, 1940, in Bellwood, Louisiana, to the late Luther Black and Gertrude Williams Black.
Dorothy Rogers (aka Ms. Dot, Aunt Dot, Cousin Dot or Grandma Dot) was married at the young age of 21 years old, to the late Wallace Odell Rogers. She worked in the school cafeteria and later became a homemaker. She loved the Lord and sewing quilts, writing poems and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents: Luther and Gertrude Black; her husband: Wallace Rogers; two sisters, Shirley Armstrong and Joyce Jones; and two brothers, Leon Black and Gene Black.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, her sons, Marcellus Rogers and wife, Linda, of Houston; Demetrius Rogers and wife, Paula,
of Dayton; Benedict Rogers and wife, Debra, of Houston; her daughters, Euphemia Rattley and husband, Harold, of Rosenberg, and Carolyn Rogers
Chatman of Missouri City. She has a bonus son, William Habbitt, of Houston. She has 12 grandchildren: Deginald, Tristan, Victoria, LaQuinta, LaTausha, Chelsea, Ashley, Donovan, Desmond, Cameron, Trevon and Auston; 4 great-grandchildren: Zariah, Kayci, Noah, Isaiah and Duke (on the way), along with sister-in-law, Rozella Black and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many, many relatives and friends.
