Dorothy Wiesner Paul left this earth to join our Lord in heaven on November 8, 2012. Dorothy was born on July 25, 1926 in Ft. Madison, Iowa to Fred and Hazel Wiesner. After graduating from Iowa State University in 1948 with a BS degree in Dietetics, Dorothy married Harold (Phil) Paul, whom she had dated in Ft. Madison during their high school years.
Dorothy studied to be a registered dietician. During her work career she was employed at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and later at Thomas Jefferson High School and Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas and the Dallas Dialysis Center.
A devoted mother, Dorothy and Phil raised three children, Jeffrey, John, and Jennifer. She is preceded in death by her father Frederick Wiesner, her mother Hazel Clara Wagner Wiesner, and brother, Edward Wiesner. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Phil, their three children, son Jeff and wife Diane of The Woodlands, TX and grandsons, Ryan and wife Sarah of Montgomery, TX and great grandchildren Cason and Claire; grandson Kevin and wife Stephanie of Houston, TX; and grandson Eric and wife Whitney of The Woodlands, TX and great grandson Thatcher, who will meet his great grandmother in heaven; son John and wife Catherine of West Linn, OR, and granddaughter Madison; and daughter Jennifer Payton and husband Russell of Copper Canyon, TX and granddaughters Amy, Rachel, and Hannah.
Phil's work with Collins Radio and later Rockwell International took the family to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Richardson, Texas, and later to Iran and Saudi Arabia. Dorothy and Phil took advantage of these destinations and had the opportunity to travel the world. While at home, Dorothy was active with golf, tennis, playing bridge and helped serve the Lord in her position of Deacon at The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of PEO and the American Dietetic Association.
Later in life, Dorothy was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Although this slowed down her active lifestyle, Dorothy continued to live life to its fullest, keeping up her wonderful baking talents and home decorations.
Dorothy will be missed on this earth. She is now in the Lord's home, where she will be in perfect health. She graced us for 86 years. A memorial service will be held at The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church, The Woodlands, Texas at 11:30 am on November 13, 2012 following a private family burial at the VA National Cemetery in Houston.
