Dorothy McKee, age 77, of Spring, Texas passed away on Saturday July 27, 2019. Dorothy was born on December 23, 1941 in Texas City, Texas to Rosina and Peter Humphries. She also lived in Galveston and Houston, Texas.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, friend to all and a woman of exceptional faith. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in Houston, Texas in 1959. She loved her time there and maintained several close friendships from her high school years.
Fortunately, Dorothy enjoyed what she did for a living. Her primary occupation was Mortgage Loan Closer. She had a strong work ethic and always stayed until the job was done. Even though she worked many a late night, she was always there for her family and friends and never missed an opportunity to support her children in their many extra curricular activities throughout their childhood.
Dorothy was a voracious reader and could finish an entire book every couple of days. She loved shopping, waterskiing, writing, playing cards, teaching ESL classes, meeting for lunch, hanging out at Starbucks with Ms. Gigi, and catching up with all her friends, old and new.
Dorothy’s faith was important to her. She was a charter member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. She held many positions during her 50 years there, including being a long time member of the LWML. She was a loyal and devoted servant to God and her church and considered the other members to be a part of her family.
Dorothy's favorite things in life were her beloved dogs, spending time and sharing stories with her friends, family, neighbors and sisters. She had the gift of gab and always came up with just the right choice of words to suit the occasion. She had a unique and complex outlook on life. Dorothy was furiously independent, resilient, outspoken, feisty, funny, caring, forgiving, a little mysterious, and tough as nails.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her and she will forever be in our hearts.
Dorothy is survived by; daughter Heather McKee; and son Mark McKee and wife Adela Garcia; twin sister Doris Humphries, sister Faye Hamilton, sister Stephanie Wilkinson, brother Jerry Humphries, nephew Lyle Hamilton and wife Amy Hamilton and niece LaNelle Bauerle.
