Ms. Dorothy Hall Haley, age 88, of Spring, TX passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday evening, December 11, 2023. She was born December 12, 1934, in New Albany, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Joel and Etna Hall. Dorothy was wonderfully devoted to her family and community. She served as a Sunday School teacher, hospital volunteer, and librarian. As a young woman, Dorothy spent time working in several professions to support her children, including the food service industry, emergency medical services, and her favorite pastime, real estate. From 1969 to 2014, she served as a real estate agent in the Klein/Spring area and spent many years educating future real estate agents at Champions School of Real Estate. She started the Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR) Chapter for the FM 1960 area in 1987 and is a Past President of WCR. Dorothy was a Director for both the Texas Association of Realtors and the Houston Association of Realtors and was Chairman of the Realtor Rally twice. She was the Statewide President of the Texas Real Estate Teacher’s Association in 2008 and led their Convention in 2009.
Outside of real estate, Dorothy loved to travel and visited several countries in South America, Central America, and Western Europe. She also traveled to Australia, took her grandchildren on trips to Hawaii and Mexico, and enjoyed several Caribbean cruises with her daughters. She collected teacups and gathered well over 200 beautiful designs. Dorothy enjoyed using the teacups for tea parties with her granddaughters, and grandsons, too. She loved John Wayne and Elvis, being a Texan and an Astros fan, all things the color blue, painting birds and landscapes, and well-written, perfectly timed thank you cards. She was a hardworking, compassionate, and fiercely independent woman and we will miss her every day.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother, Lynn Hall McNeal and Joel Wayne Hall; and her son, Roma Scott Haley. She is survived by her brother, Richard Hall (Gabby); five daughters, Brenda Luker, Debra Walters, Wanda Morris (Mark), Carol Haley, and Patricia Kunkel (Greg); 13 grandchildren, Chad Hamilton, Tammi Stanley, Michelle Cross, Jeremy Hanson, Sammy Hanson, Bobby Walters, Jr., Jenni Peters, Mandy Porter, Dustyn Mahon, Haley Carter, Amy Park, Jessica Wilkes, and Kristen Cardinal; her 26 great grandchildren (one more on the way); and her nine great, great grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members, including numerous nieces and nephews, and the many friends she made while living at The Village on the Woodlands Waterway.
A special thank you to Westgate Senior Home (Conroe, Tx), Candace Peck, caregivers Chrys and VonShay, and to Devotion Hospice for the love and compassionate care of our mom, especially Pastor Robin for the comfort he provided our mom through prayer.
Visitation is from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., December 16, 2023 at the funeral home.
