You have my deepest sympathy for your mom was someone to cherish.  She was ever bit the Southern Lady with all the charm, warmth, and class that people on aspire to have.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers

My dear sister-in-law..Many memories of family times.  A special time with her after Jerry's death when she asked me to spend several days with her until Gordon could arrive.  She spoke of the significant spiritual 5 months she and Jerry had between his 'near-death' experience and his death.  I look forward to seeing her in heaven. My love to all, Aunt Charlene

Dorothy Coley was a close friend of my mother's and that is how I came to know her.  The three of us sometimes had lunch together and I will always think of Dorothy as a person who was right on top of current events, who always had an educated and definite view on politics and world affairs, and as someone who was a delight to talk to. The world is a better place for her presence.

Dorothy was wonderful cousin.   I remember the beautiful dresses she gave Auntie and Granny Bynum and how they would beam and smile with them on.   I love and will miss Dorothy very much.  Paula Bynum Gaw. (Haskell,OK)

I'll always remember Dorothy for her gentle voice, enthusiasm, and beautiful smile.
My early memories include the great times we spent together at family gatherings where we enjoyed great food, family fellowship and fun times.
Dorothy was a great example of what all women aspire to be-- a dedicated mother,
friend and role model.  I will miss her dearly.

I have so many great memories of Dorothy from a very early age to recent visits 
over the last few years.  A beautiful lady inside and out, with a beaming spirit that always came with a smile.  I'll never forget our families getting together at "Granny's & Annie's" house for great food, laughter and a common love for family.

When I first moved to Houston, Dorothy opened her home many times to include me in Thanksgivings when I couldn't be with my parents. She had such a quick wit and intelligent mind, and loved to discuss politics or recent events. She loved with her whole heart and gave endless support and encouragement to others. She was a true "treasure" on this earth!

It was wonderful to open the photo gallery and see pictures of Dorothy throughout her life.  The rich heritage of family and love is apparent.  I remember Dorothy's beautiful smile and sweet spirit.  She was always interested in the person with whom she was conversing.  That is a rare gift and she shared it well.

Dorothy was a beautiful and delightful woman to be around.  She had a very clever sense of humor and it seemed that laughter surrounded her.  I'm sure that angels celebrated her "coming home" to her prepared room in heaven.

My aunt Dorothy---Wow, what a Woman!  She was a little of everything...a great mother, a loyal wife & a devoted daughter to begin with.  One thing that she was as well was a product of her era and of her generation.  I always felt that she had been limited in what she was able to do as she was hamstrung and bound by the expectations and prescribed roles of her time.  Her brilliant intellect and her constant and far-flung curiosity are the two traits that most define her to me.  She had the unusual capacity to always be questioning, to be open to new ideas, to not be bound by stereotypes or by the cultural mores of the society in which she was forced to operate.  Somehow, she always brought to mind Margaret Thatcher, a woman of her same generation who was able to fulfill her potential.  Dorothy could have kicked Maggie's tucas!  If I was going to be around Dorothy, I always knew that I had better be "on my game" because she would not allow those around her to practice intellectual laziness.  I will miss her.

I always sought out Dorothy when she was at a family gathering.We shared similar political ideals. She had always thought out the issues, had an opinion and was very entertaining to listen to. I will miss her.
