Dorothy was born to Walter and Mamie Hastedt, December 7, 1927, in Houston, Texas. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1945. She married Harris Beyer in 1946, and they lived together in Houston, Texas. Together they raised 10 children.
She is survived by: Her children, Harris Beyer Jr. and wife Adriana, Juliana Gustke, Catherine Verhalen and husband Raymond, Mark Beyer Sr. and wife Berna, Theresa Rivera and husband George, Timothy Beyer and wife Lori, Cristina Pier and husband Robert, Dorothea Walker and husband Donnie, Susan Laws and husband David, and brother-in-law Bill Wilbanks. She also leaves to cherish her memory 25 beautiful grandchildren, 37 cherished great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Harris Beyer Sr. (husband), Paul Philip Beyer (Son), Elizabeth Beyer (daughter), Russell Gustke (son-in-law), Daniel Gustke (grandson), Joseph Beyer (grandson), Charles Beyer (nephew), her 5 brothers and their wives, and 4 sisters and their husbands.
Dorothy loved her role as wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, and sharing time with her family. Dorothy was a lovely example to her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and those along the way that she loved as her own. She unselfishly shared her life and faith with anyone in need of a friend.
Dorothy was a long-time parishioner of St. Christopher’s and St. Helen’s Catholic Churches. While able, Dorothy was an active member of many parish organizations. She loved her church family as much as her actual family.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A rosary service will be recited at 7PM. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd, Pearland, TX 77581. A committal service will occur Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. The family requests that donations be made to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston at catholiccharities.org. The family would also like to thank the caring staff of Reliant Hospice, especially Phil for their compassion, dedication, and loving care.
