Dora Fay McPherson Horak, 69, of Houston Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 8th at 8:45 am. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday July 11th at the Houston Height’s Woman’s Club located at 1846 Harvard St. Houston, Tx 77008. Dora was born in Houston on January 2, 1946. Dora grew up here in the Heights. She went to Browning Elementary, Hogg Junior High and Reagan High school. She even had Amanda here at the Heights Hospital. The three of them lived across the street from her family home until Anessa was born and they moved to the Bellmar Addition. After her divorce from John in the early 80’s, Dora worked as a loan officer at Bank One (now Chase). She raised her daughters on her own and was very proud of them. Dora was always there for anyone when they needed anything. It was really difficult for her when her health started degrading 11 years ago.
By 6 years ago she could no longer drive. Dora’s lifeline to the outside was her sisters and two really good friends, Gaye Theis and Sharon Bialas. Since Dora couldn’t drive, her sister’s and friends would talk to her on the phone every day.
Amanda was able to be there with Dora until the end. When she knew Dora wasn’t going to make it, she spent the day calling Anessa and Carson and all of Dora’s close family and friends allowing them to get to say their goodbyes to her before she passed
Dora is survived by her daughter Amanda Horak and her other daughter Anessa married to Thomas Pavlik and they gave birth to Dora’s one and only grandson, Carson. Dora is also survived by her sisters Myrtle Loretta Marshall and Patsy Ann Erlandson and brother William Douglas McPherson as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and other family and friends. Dora is preceded in death by her sisters Thelma Lee Pali, Marjorie Correnna Davis, Martha Donderlene “Donnie” Rowland, and brother Ernest Gordon McPherson Jr.
