Ms. Black was born on November 23, 1946, in Houston, Texas to Jeanne and Bill Kennedy. Donna graduated from Pasadena High School and attended college at the University of Houston. She worked for a few years at Southwestern Bell before joining her mother at Slender Bolic, a fitness center. She and her mother were featured in advertising for the company. Eventually, she joined the family business running a franchise called Meineke Discount Mufflers. She helped them grow to 18 locations in and around the Houston area. She joined the Board of the Meineke Dealers Association and was very active in securing rights for the franchisees. After losing her husband, she eventually moved to Stephenville and built a home. As she began to experience health issues, she moved to La Porte to be near her sister and brother-in-law.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Paul Black, her parents and her brother, William Thomas Kennedy, Jr. She leaves behind a sister, Janet Cummings and husband Jim of La Porte; brother, Phil Kennedy of League City; Stepdaughters, Susan Black Hokanson, Kathy Diane Mills, Cynthia Black Whitley and Sheryl Black Warren; several step Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and Great nieces and nephews.
The Cummings Family would like to give special thanks to Donna’s Caregivers, Elizabeth, Phoebe and Rita who served her with love.
