Dad,

The past few years have been difficult for me and I have struggled missing you as well as dealing with things in my personal life. 

However, I don't feel the need to share my struggles with the world. You know dad what I needed help with and frankly it's just between us and nobody else. 

Ulimately as a true parent, I know you are the only person that has always had my back. And that's why you always called me mornings at 6am before work.

I'm gonna be alright.... I wasent so sure a year ago to be honest. I was engaged and then it never worked out for reasons only you and I know. I talked to you for guidance during this time and only you and I know how I truly felt....
You ultimately knew the perfect man I needed and sent him to me.

I was broken without a shell. I was hollow inside. 

But I put myself back together dad.
You always said your girl "busts down walls and once I found strength- I did just that." 

Then there was "Donny." A sweet gem I met with 2 children. I think you sent me a Donny to get my attention that this is the man that's gonna be my husband, protector and I love his kids. 

After you died, I stopped singing and stopped doing alot of things. I gave up on life. 

I'm back dad and I love you. 

Thank you for always being a true parent even in the hard times. A parents love is unconditional. Thank you for that.

Praying for you as you continue to struggle with the mystery of loss.

After 3.5 yrs I still can't understand why or how. I pray you are in peace and hope you can send some sign letting us know that.  Watch over your family and guide us toward love and peace and help us to relinquish any anger and bitterness.  We will forever miss you.

Thinking about you today. It's been difficult with pawpaw's passing- but I know you and Nannie were there to meet him at the gate. I can't wait to see you again- I have so many questions... Life has not been the same for these past 3 years, however, you are now "complete" with your mom and dad up in heaven beside you. Miss you so much!

Don, as this memory guest book closes, it's not the end of this book.... for your legacy will live on in my heart. I think of you and mom everyday. You will never be forgotten. I am beyond sad to discover just today the passing of Don Scott. I remember his kind, gentle spirit and the intense joy he found in his family. I send my love and prayers to the Scott family, each of whom share a most special place in my heart and memory. I look forward to the day when we will all gather together again to worship our great God forever and ever and ever! Peace!

Donald, today is 11/17/2013 and we know it is your birthday, or would have been. Oh how I wish you were here so we could all wish you a happy birthday. Just know what is in our hearts and we pray you are safe in His arms.

Don, you are still missed so much.  I still cry thinking of you.  I keep in touch with your sister most of all, but also with Lynsey & Nolan.  I think Glenda is still griving because she doesn't keep in touch as well.  I worry about her. Sometimes I think about all the times you would call and ask me to meet you for lunch and I would say I have to work and that is just too much for me to do and work also.  I used to tell you that when I retire we would do that.  Now with all my heart I wish I had taken the time to meet with you. Now time has gone by and I missed that time with you.  Heck, you were my boss and you said it was ok - I could go, but oh no, not me work first!!  I was so stupid and now the time is gone and I so regret my decision. Hey Don,  it's been a year and a half since your passing, and it just doesn't get any better as time goes on.  I'm so sorry you had to endure so much pain those last few months and years for that  matter.....it breaks my heart , and wished I could have done more to help you.  You were the most caring and genuine person  who made sure everyone was well taken care of.  You were the best!  I miss the daily phone conversations and you wasn't only my brother, you were my friend.  You are safe and at peace now with momma in heaven.  Dad is doing ok and I'm taking good care of him. I met Don at XServ when he started working with us.  I sure miss his smiling face, and always kind and uplifting words.  I think of him so often.  Glenda I met you at social parties, Lynsey & Nolan I met when you both were younger at XServ.  I really got to know Nolan when he sat across from me at Brock's Deer Park office.  Always so nice and friendly like his Dad.  Lynsey I cried when I read your message to your Dad.  It was so sweet and from the heart.  I pray for peace for you all.

I know this message is coming a little "late", however, I was at a loss for words several months back when you left us unexpectedly. It was a pleasure having you as my dad for the past 26 years. You have taught me so many life lessons that I will continue to remember in the future. You have taught me the importance of having a strong work ethic in the fact that you have always encouraged me to "bust down doors" if you want to succeed in life and to never give up on your dreams. You have also taught me the importance of "helping others" and maybe that is one of the reasons why I enjoy working so much in the healthcare field. You loved Nolan and I both more than life itself- and believe me, we know that you loved us. There was not a thing in this world that you would not do for us. The only thing that is providing me comfort right now is knowing that you and Nannie are watching over me and guiding me down the next steps that I will take in life. I will never ever forget the trip to Galveston that you and I took 2 weeks before you passed, which was the last time I saw you. That was a very "special" trip and I think God wanted us to have that "one last memory" together- which was a great one! I will never forget eating at Fishermann's Wharf and ending the great day with both of us getting pedicures in Galveston. (For those of you who don't know- my dad and I had a special bonding activity that we shared and that was getting pedicures because we were both cursed with the "Scott Feet" :) ). I am glad that you are at peace, however, it deeply saddens me that you will not be here physically to see many transformations and milestones that are going to happen in the upcoming years. Not having you physically there on the day of my wedding or to see the birth of your future grandkids is going to be the hardest for me. Although you will not be there physically with me, I know you will be there in spirit and looking down on me and "smiling" with joy. There is one thing I remember you telling me that was so special to you. I can remember every Christmas Eve you would read NOlan and I the book, "Twas the Night Before Christmas." Dad had a very special Christmas Eve tradition of reading Nolan and I that book every single year (he never missed a year).  Dad always used to say that he will continue to read us that book every year- even when Nolan and I are adults and have our own kids! ha ha! Dad- just wanted to let you know that I will gladly now do the honors of reading: "Twas the Night Before Christmas" for the years to come because I know how much that meant to you that we carry on that tradition every year. Give Nannie a big bear hug for me and I know we will all be reunited one day. And one last thing dad: just wanted to let you know that I will continue to make you proud- I can promise you that! :)

Donny....what can I say.  As I carried you to the car for Glenda yesterday, I thought, Man Don, this is the only time I would be able to carry you to the car..lol  I know that would have made you laugh, even though it isn't really funny.   I will miss our political jokes back and forth and I will miss the blue bell ice cream you would bring when you came by the house for something.  Most of all, I will miss just the fact of knowing you are here on this earth.
You were always such a sweet and charming man.  I remember when I first met you, you ran to me, picked me up and swung me around and said, “So you are Carey”.  I remember thinking, what a great guy Glenda found.  
It truly wasn't time for you to leave us, you cheated yourself, Glenda and your children out of a lot of wonderful memories.  But you will always be there in all of our hearts.
Glenda, Lynsey and Nolan, I will always be here for you.  I love you.   I promise you Don, that I will help look after your family and I will always remember you with fondness.

I will truly miss Mr.Scott... My very favorite customer at the cleaners...always first customer of the day. He impacted my life with his wisdom and compliments.He always was concerned about others. Many days he made my day better.I will truly miss him.To the family yall will be in my thoughts and prays.

Donny Scott, or "Uncle Donny" as I knew him was a great uncle to me as well as my sister Amy.  I can remember spending summer vacations with him at the Frio, cherishing many holidays with him.  Our last Christmas together I can vividly remember Uncle Don reading a classic Christmas story as if we were little kids again.  Throughout these last few years Uncle Donny has been very supportive of me and my Army activities and always showed his support and I will always remember that.  Uncle Donny, you will be missed, say hello to Nannie for us. RIP

What a Blessing Donny was to all of us that knew and loved him.  I have to say that he was genuinely one of the most kind, caring and compassionate people I have ever known.  I love reflecting back on all of the memories I had with him and you Glenda in high school, and even more recently in our lives.  My heart aches with sadness at his passing, but my prayers are forever fervent for you, Glenda, Lynsey and Nolan.  I love you all.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. To me Don is what you would call a mam among men. What a great guy he would call me regular when my son was in Iraq, just to see how I was doing . Now that is a true friend. I will miss you but you will live on with me for ever.RIP

Dear Glenda,  I am so sorry to hear about Don. It has been many years since I last saw him. I just remember what a great guy he was in school. I think of all the people I have known over the years and he was a truly special person. My prayers are with you and the family.

My first memory of Uncle Donnie was when I was only 4 years old.  He and Aunt Glenda were babysitting me and he stayed up all night making me the most extensive tinker toy city that was on the side of the box...I found it when I woke up the next morning at the foot of my bed.  Always such a considerate and nice person to me and my family and I loved him dearly.  I am so glad my husband and I got to spend the time at the Texans game with him this year.  We all had a great time and that is how I want to remember him.

We were blessed to have had Don as our neighbor and friend. We will cherish the many fond memories of him: our camping trip, pulling together during the hurricane, chatting in the front yard, and always providing words of encouragement during tough times. As many have said, Don was genuinely a kind and caring person; he was not in it for how it benefitted him.  He truly cared about others.  You could tell that he adored his family.

I worked with Don at Brock.  The day I had my stroke in the office he lterally gave me his lunch.  He also followed us as a co-worker drove me in my car to the doctor's office and took the co-worker back. He was always taking care of people.

Rarely do you find such a caring and genuine person in the business world today.

Everyone really liked Don and respected him.  He did a great, but difficult job.

I know he was taken to Heaven early; God likes to be around his kind!

May he rest in peace and his family remember all the good memories.

Saying goodbye is hard.  We worked together for so long it was like step in time.  It was my pleasure to be your elf and hop and skip to your wishes.  What a pleasure you were to learn and work with, most of the time, laughing but working ever so hard.  Rest in peace, my friend. I didn't know Don very well but what I did know about him is he was very good to my mother, Phyllis Wilson.  She would talk about him all the time, she loved working for Don and he was so generous and giving. Donnie was a wonderful cousin and we have many great growing up memories of him.  He grew into a good man and an all around good human being.  This has left a hole in our hearts.  Our prayers for Don and for all of you who loved him.

I grew up with Cindy and Donnie as childhood neighbors. I remember when our street would flood we would have a blast playing in the flooded streets.  What a great child and teen he was.  Such a sweetheart.  I'm sorry I was not able to know him as an adult.  My prayers to Mr. Scott, Cindy, and Donnie's family.

I had the honor to work with Don at Brock. He was a very thoughtful and  caring person, he will be dearly missed. I will be praying for the Scott family. May GOD wrap his loving arms around you and get you through this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of meeting Don several years ago in Grande Prairie, Alberta,Canada. It was a work related meeting, but I spent about 10 hours with him and we when out for dinner before he had to catch his plane. 

In that time we shared a few laughs,and I listened to him talk about his family and friends in a caring and loving manner.

When I heard of his passing I was deeply saddened.
