Donald was born to Charles and Catheran (Stepchinski) Green on July 5th, 1941 in Pasadena, TX. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1960 and received a degree from Lee College in 1965. As a young man, he worked for the US Geological Survey, leading a team to survey Lake Mead, which generated many stories about his adventures. He also served in the Air National Guard of Texas and the Reserve of the United States Air Force, from which he was honorably discharged in 1971. Don worked as a certified electrician for Armco Steel on the Houston ship channel, and in switchgear maintenance for General Electric, where he worked until his retirement in 2006.
Don also had his private pilot’s license and a Cessna airplane, which he used to court his future wife, Theresa (Terry) Smith. Don and Terry married on November 20th, 1971 and just last year, celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary. They lived together in Pasadena, TX, and raised two children - Michelle and Christopher.
Don was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He coached many sports teams, took his family on camping trips in Colorado, and dutifully cleaned all the fish they caught. He shared his knowledge with his children and taught them everything he could, from how to bait a hook to how to buy a house. Don also loved traveling, and upon retiring, traveled throughout the US and Europe with Terry.
Anyone who ever met him knew that he was a consummate storyteller, always ready with a tale for any topic. Don also always helped out anyone who needed it, whether friend, family, or stranger. Don’s family were founding members of St. Pius V Catholic Church, and he has faithfully supported the church and other charities through the years.
He is survived by his wife, Terry, his daughter Michelle (Caleb) and grandson Soren, and his son Christopher. He also leaves to cherish his memory his brother Terry, his brother Robert (Beth) and their two sons Robert and Matthew, his uncle Al Stepchinksi, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Catheran, and five Stepchinkski uncles.
