Delores Smith

Her Life.... Delores Ards-Smith, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully with her family present on January 27, 2016. She was born on November 28, 1952 to A.C. Ards (deceased) and Rachel Ann Ards-Travis(deceased). She was the third of nine children. Delores was blessed early in youth with her Christian beliefs and affiliation with the Baptist faith. She was baptized at an early age and the time of her death, she was faithful member of Greater Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She attended Harper Elementary and Booker T. Washington High School. She gave of herself unselfishly and had genuine concern for the care of others. Her most prized possession was her family and her grandchildern. Sharing memorable moments with them gave her great joy. She always expressed how she enjoyed living for her children and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memories: SONS James Ards and Samuel Ards, Sr. (Juile Ards) Larry Smith, Jr. ( Joniqua Smith ) all of Houston, Texas her only DAUGHTER La Detrick Byrd ( Ken Byrd) of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Samuel Ards Jr,., Anthony Ards, Jamie Smith, and Jayden Hill all of Houston, Texas; Cameron Underwood and Noielle Richie all of Jacksonville Florida; great-granddaughter Zoey Ards of Houston, Texas; four brothers, Alvin and Darryl Ards, Donald and Ervin (Katherine ) Travis, all of Houston, Texas and one sister Michelle ( Timothy ) Brandley of Puyallup Washington; A host of loving relatives and friends. On January 27, 2016 Delores departed this life joining those who preceded in death including her husband, Larry Smith, Sr. ; her father A.C. Ards; her mother Rachel Ann Ards-Travis; brothers Nathaniel Ards, Sr., Carl Ards; and sister Carol Brock.
