In Loving Memory of Dr. David E. Zepeda, M.D.
Born November 21, 1948– Passed Away December 11, 2024
David E. Zepeda, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, second father, doctor, and friend passed away peacefully holding hands with his beloved wife Punch Zepeda and Robert Zepeda by his side. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, David was one of ten children in a close-knit family that instilled in him a strong sense of faith, dedication, and care for others.
At an early age, he was inspired by his father, Rudolpho Felix Zepeda’s leadership that lead him to his calling into the medical field. Along with that and the constant support of his mother, Guadalupe Quintanilla Zepeda, he pursued a path that would allow him to make a profound difference in the lives of others.
A proud alumnus of Mount Carmel High School, he continued his education at the University of Texas and the University of Texas San Antonio Medical School. He then honed the skills that would define his extraordinary career as Board Certified OB-GYN and co-founder of The Women’s Specialists of Houston. As the director of minimally invasive surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital, he continued to improve the lives of women through the latest evidence-based treatments in obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive health and OB/GYN surgery. He brought countless lives into the world, offering compassionate care to families and revolutionizing the field as a surgeon with his innovative approaches. His patients often remarked on his ability to make each person feel uniquely valued which is a testament to his dedication and kindness.
Above all else, David was devoted to his high school sweetheart Punch Zepeda. Their marriage was an example to an enduring love, partnership, and mutual respect. Together, they shared a life filled with laughter, adventure, and commitment.
David cherished time with his loved ones, sharing stories, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Whether frying turkeys and camping with his family or savoring a Manhattan while smoking cigars with "the GuyZ". He engaged in spirited games of poker and golf. He had a love for the sports teams of Houston and Texas. He enjoyed spending time riding their horse Rio and having his two dogs Daisy Mae and Prissy at his side. He approached every moment with warmth, humor, and camaraderie.
His home was a place of welcome and celebration for family and friends. Always present with an unconditional love, words of guidance and encouragement. His presence was a pillar of strength for his entire family.
